Miracle in New Orleans:
CTV News Director Curtis Crutchfield and Sports Anchor Dave Goldman recently followed a local church to New Orleans to document the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the progress of reconstruction.  Miracle in New Orleans, a one-hour documentary that focuses on one churches mission to aid in relief and reconstruction from this catastrophic natural disaster premieres on

Congratulations
:
CTV News anchor/reporter Patricia Villone Garcia was recently selected to participate in The Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment fellowship.  The fellowship was held at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter, Florida and focused on deepening journalists' understanding of important and complicated environmental issues.  Fellowship participants studied in an unconventional classroom, examining key natural features of the South Florida region, such as the Everglades, Kissimmee River and the Indian River Lagoon.  Villone will also participate in the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism Seminar Fellowship program at the University of Maryland in early September.  Participants of this fellowship will gain valuable sources and engage in riveting discussions with other reporters, editors and opinion writers from around the country.  Click here for more information.

CTV  was recently honored at the 27th annual Telly Awards with three wins.  There were over 12,000 entries from the United States and many foreign countries.  Program winners included: CTV News, Teen Focus and Keeping it Livable.  Click here for more information.

CTV  would also like to congratulate  all of the winners in the Videographer Awards 2006
competition.  There were over 2,000 entries from the United States and several foreign countries, and the winners were judged to be among the best that were submitted.  Please join us in congratulating Curtis Crutchfield and Ian McAllister for their award winning documentary,
 "Postcard from Senegal", David Barnes and Marvin Jackson for "Destinations Miami and Sideline Report", the

Condolences:

CTV  says good-bye to Chris "Cool  Breeze" Basileo, who lost a six year battle to brain cancer.  The Christopher Basileo Scholarship Fund has been established in his honor.  Click here for more information.

A milestone:

Congratulations to Bill McCaffrey as he celebrates the 900th episode of Inside Sports.  Click here to read about this momentous occasion.

Senegal Trip:
CTV's Curtis Crutchfield and Ian McAllister  went with a Prince George's County delegation, including County Executive Jack B. Johnson, to Senegal. A documentary was produced from the trip which airedon CTV.  Click on these links to view  poster pictures from the trip.
